Finance Officer

About the Role

We are looking for a Finance Officer / experienced Accounts Assistant to join our small but busy Finance Department. This role would suit someone who already has some exposure to working in the world of finance who is looking for the next step in their career and is keen to gain continuous progression and development opportunities.

The Finance Officer will be focused on supervising the accounts assistant and supporting the Financial Controller with transactional financial matters, as well as supporting the effective management of finances across the organisation. The postholder will already have a thorough knowledge of payments, accounting processes and systems which support the effective organisation of a department.

The key responsibilities will include:

• Submissions and reconciliation of invoicing.
• Monthly reconciliations of payments, receipts, and accounts from across the operational network of services.
• Auditing of financial records and supporting with financial investigations.
• Support the end of month filing process, leading on this in the absence of the Financial Controller.
• Managing service users personal allowance top ups to prepaid debit cards
• Supporting with other areas within the Department, e.g. Payroll, as and when required.
• Management of the Company orders and purchases processes.
• Support employees and external stakeholders with financial queries and resolutions.
• Assisting with development and implementation of accounting control procedures
• Submitting reports to the senior leadership team in accordance with set KPIs, identifying trends, actions, and recommendations based on accrued data which supports the Company’s ability to make operational and development decisions.
• Have rigorous checks and balances in place to ensure all discrepancies are discovered and resolved.
• Complete various financial, accounting, administrative, and other reports and analysis, and perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

Ideally, you will already hold AAT qualifications, or be working towards the Level 3.  We understand that sometimes qualifications don’t match experience, and we’d be interested in speaking to you if you’re able to demonstrate the relevant experience.

You will require previous experience of working within accountancy, or for a medium-to-large sized company within a finance department and have a good understanding of key financial systems such as Xero and other reporting systems.
